I have never seen eco complete in person so have no idea as to how well it covers or how much is needed. My tank is approx 6 foot by 2 foot, and I'd like a depth of approx 2" Thanks! Why not go with Flourite Black? Cheaper and more substrate for your money. With EC, you're also paying for the water in the bag. I can get eco complete dry weight in 9. Aug 3, 13 0 0 SCA. On the manufactures website they say one bag is equal to four bags of ordinary gravel. They dont say what weight bags of gravel. Does anyone have any experience with eco-complete int heir tank? I want about a 2" bottom layer of eco-complete and a 1" layer of sand on top.

Thanks for all your help Chad. What Fish? You realize that within 6 - 9 mons. I've never seen anyone with a planted tank who could keep the layers separate over time. As far as amount of material goes, I used 75lbs. I like lots of depth, especially in the back, for large and deep rooted plants.
