Then came Cars 2, Brave, and Monsters University. Another sequel, a fairytale princess movie, and a prequel. As this tumblr post made me realize, there is a key difference regarding how these studios use villains. This is classically what Disney has done. Aladdin would have never found the lamp without Jafar making him enter the Cave of Wonders.
Rapunzel would have lived happily with her parents. Its films have plenty of great antagonists, but few villains. Marlin has to confront his fears and the entire ocean on his way to Nemo. The main source of conflict in Pixar movies usually comes from the protagonist him or her self. They are their own biggest enemy. Even in The Incredibles, where Syndrome is the villain and the one who makes things happen, the biggest story in that movie is not The Incredibles versus Syndrome, but Bob versus himself.
Disney is much more classic in this aspect. It uses its villains to push its heroes out of their comfort zones and into confronting the reality of what they need.
Each protagonist has to learn something and grow as a character. So, these are a few key differences I see between both studios.
And, if Pixar does make a musical, I think they will do it the Pixar way. Competing with Disney on this front is practically pointless. Pablo Ruiz is a Colombian filmmaker. Movies like Toy Story , The Lion King and Aladdin made him fall in love with the art form and now he hopes to dedicate his life to telling stories, hopefully for Pixar if they go back to doing original films.
Some of his ambitions are making a movie as emotionally impacting as Toy Story 3 , meeting JK Rowling, and petting a million dogs. Follow him on Twitter PabloRV7.

Well, hell… This cougar is pretty pissed; because, this means that Lord Farquaad is once again good at one more thing. They captured all the fairy tales and hid them away until they were needed, never to he seen by common eyes. Table of Contents. My understanding is that up until Toy Story 2 , they were still two separate companies teaming together.
But then they had a big hoo-hah and almost broke up, because Disney Pictures wanted to pretty much eat them and make Pixar disappear. But then — after lots of arguing — Disney bought Pixar, but promised to give Pixar creative control and their name still on the films they made. Disney Classics are the — mostly annual — feature length animated releases made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It started with Snow White, which Walt Disney re-mortgaged his house to make, it was the most expensive animated film ever made for its time.
Since Snow White , Disney Animation Studios have — most years — released an animated feature length film, and that is what a Disney Classic is. The most recent is Frozen. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account.
